Ensign

Ensign's parents paid almost $100,000 to mistress' family

by: Oreo

Politico is reporting that Senator John Ensign's parents paid $96,000 to the family of his mistress.

The following is a letter from Ensign's lawyer:

In April 2008, Senator John Ensign’s parents each made gifts to Doug Hampton, Cindy Hampton, and two of their children in the form of a check totaling $96,000. Each gift was limited to $12,000. The payments were made as gifts, accepted as gifts and complied with tax rules governing gifts.

After the Senator told his parents about the affair, his parents decided to make the gifts out of concern for the well-being of long-time family friends during a difficult time. The gifts are consistent with a pattern of generosity by the Ensign family to the Hamptons and others.

None of the gifts came from campaign or official funds nor were they related to any campaign or official duties. Senator Ensign has complied with all applicable laws and Senate ethics rules.

Is there a plot to get rid of all the "Young Republican Faces"

by: UplandPoet

Does it seem like there is a plot to do in the up and coming GOP potential presidential candidates?

Is Romney spending his millions this to elliminate the competition before the election season?

I have no information, but look how the dominoes have fallen, in a few weeks three of the "best and brightest" have taken a tumble, Ensign, Sanford and Palin. Then again, sometimes it is a case of stupidity bubbling to the top... I dont tthink anybody could have set up George Allen any better than he did himself in. In fact, none of these three candidates seem to have had much help in being stupid, but at least in the cases of Sanford and Ensign, fed and press investigations seem to uncover stuff that would have never come to light without some anonymous tips...

If 2012 is Obama against the losers of the 2008 GOP primary, does Huckabee lose out to Romney early? does Rudy become a non factor through his own stupidity, again? If it is Gomer vs plasticman, do either of them have the attraction to middle America to make it a race, or does Obama win in a walk?

Obviously, if Super Obama has just saved us and our economy is great, and he doesnt end up in bed with someone other than his wife, can anybody beat Obama?

These are questions inquiring minds have to be wondering.
