Allen West trails democratic challenger Murphy in Florida

by: UplandPoet

Sun Sep 30, 2012 at 20:24:54 PM EDT

not sure what happened, i posted this a few minutes ago, but now i dont see it. not sure what poll they are referring to in this fundraising email, but if they are correct, this is big. West moved north to get to a more GOP friendly district and there is tons of outside money behind him.....
BREAKING: New GOP poll released today has us defeating Allen West by 4 points.

I will be brief.  This news is huge but Allen West is only going to double down.  And the attacks will only get more vicious.  This is it.  There are hours left before midnight's FEC deadline and we need your urgent support.

Please contribute now at https://secure.actblue.com/con...

Thank you,

- Patrick

looks like it is a robo phone poll, somewhat like Rasmussen and PPP use. It is the least reliable method of modern polling, still..... (0.00 / 0)
Followup Murphy fundraiser email: Allen West loses by 9 points! (0.00 / 0)

That's what our brand new poll out this morning shows. But wouldn't it be great to wake up on November 7 and read that headline in the paper?

Then let's not take our foot off the gas - even for a second! Thanks to you, we made our goal in time for the FEC deadline and we have been able to keep our hard-hitting ad on the air.

Help us keep up the momentum by donating whatever you can today.

Already it's clear how much of an impact your efforts have had. We've been on the air with ads that show how extreme, outrageous and out-of-touch Allen West is by using Allen West's very own words. And now West is down by nine - and he's even losing by a whopping 18 points among Independent voters - in a poll POLITICO said should be taken "seriously." Even a recent GOP poll showed West losing.

Don't let up - help us keep the momentum going.

in a somewhat related story..... this from the tea party (0.00 / 0)

Fellow Conservatives:

Why does the Republican Establishment always attack and abandon conservative candidates rather than moderate ones?

They say it's because conservative candidates are less electable, but the facts don't support their claim.

They said Pat Toomey was too conservative to win in Pennsylvania. They were wrong. They said Marco Rubio couldn't win in Florida. Wrong again. And they said Rand Paul would lose if Republicans nominated him in Kentucky. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Prove the Establishment Wrong Again.

The fact is conservative candidates actually stand for something and they give voters a real choice between liberty and tyranny. They're not only more principled, they're more electable too.

But this fact hasn't stopped the Republican Establishment from attacking and abandoningTodd Akin (R-MO), the conservative nominee for U.S. Senate in Missouri.

As everyone in America knows by now, Todd Akin is 100% pro-life and made a big mistake in how he explained and defended his position. He quickly and sincerely apologized, but that didn't stop his party from launching a public campaign to destroy him.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) and American Crossroads (co-founded by Karl Rove) announced they would not spend a penny helping Todd Akin if he remained on the ballot.

This elevated the controversy, dried up Akin's fundraising, and made it even harder for him to recover. Make no mistake, the establishment would never have done this to a moderate candidate. Never.

Don't Let The Establishment Defeat Another Conservative.

If the Establishment really cared about electing Republicans, they would support Todd Akin now that it's clear he's the Republican candidate on the ballot, the race is still competitive, and the outcome could decide control of the Senate.

But no, they won't lift a finger.

They're ignoring the polls that show Akin either tied or leading his opponent. They're stubbornly refusing to support him and even telling the press the race is not winnable. They're conceding the race to the liberal incumbent, Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO).

Why? Because Todd Akin is a conservative and if he wins, he won't owe them anything. In fact, he will likely be a thorn in their side when they sell out and try to work with Democrats to raise the debt limit and pass more bailouts.

Stand Up for Conservative Principles

This is a race we can win and the stakes could not be higher.

Senator Claire McCaskill cast the deciding vote to pass Obamacare.
She voted for President Obama's failed stimulus program.
She voted for the Wall Street bailout, in favor of forced unionism, and to raise the debt limit even higher.
Claire McCaskill voted with Obama 98% of the time.

If McCaskill is re-elected, she will continue to support the massive spending, bailouts, and debt that are destroying our country.

There are only two options in this race now -- Todd Akin or Claire McCaskill.

Conservative leaders like Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Jim DeMint have lined up behind Todd Akin, but the Republican Establishment would rather see a liberal Democrat get re-elected than admit they made a mistake.

That is why the grassroots must rise up and support his campaign.

If you care about the future of this country, then I urge you to make a contribution to Todd Akin's campaign today.

It doesn't matter how much you contribute, just that you give something. If we all pitch in, we can send another true conservative to the U.S. Senate.

Thank you for having the courage to stand up for conservative principles.

what do we make of this? does it show the establishment pulling back from the tea party, is this tea party fund raising hyperbole? what is going on?

so it's not Akin's fault (0.00 / 0)
Akin just made a mistake? Wow, that would be funny in an alternate universe. If Rove won't back him anymore, why would anyone else in his party, Norquist maybe?

but i find it pretty interesting to see how the far right sees things. by the way, west has been regaining some of his losses lately, looks like we might not be out of the woods yet. maybe last night will move the needle a bit down ballot, too!
