| So much to say, so little time... First up, I'd like to direct you to a blog where you can see deeply detailed polling numbers, complete with comparisons to 2008 and 2004, and drilled down EC data. It's a more complete view of what is going on in individual states then just likely/leaning/etc. The author is Mark Rosenthal, who has been a member of the DCW community for years. Sadly for us, he lives out of the country, and we have tried mightily, but there is some problem with our platform in letting international IP addresses post to DCW, or we'd have the numbers here. Mark posted in the past, but there is something in the changes to our platform causing the glitch. I recommend you check out his work. Update on Voter Registration: Cheryl sent out a note to all the volunteers thanking them for all they did to make the drive a success. We have been encouraged that so many of our people have decided to redouble their efforts in their neighborhoods. Also, our Democratic Committee has rented a table at the Paoli Blues Fest on 6 October. The Fest is expecting 10,000 people, and we'll be registering voters! Yes, we will still register all comers, but we'll be allowed to dress as Democrats. If you'll be anywhere in the area, please plan to stop by! The other update on Voter Registration: Simpson's ruling is due on Tuesday. If there's no injunction of the Voter ID law, expect an expedited appeal to be filed within hours. Special shout-out to Ann and Mitt: Ann said that her major concern if Mitt wins is "his mental well-being". Ann, I would worry about that NOW. Mitt came to the Valley Forge Military Academy yesterday and said, and I quote, "we're going to win Pennsylvania." Uh, Mitt, I don't know who you think "we" is. You came within 5 miles of my house and said you'd win HERE. My friends who live even closer noted that there wasn't even traffic around the school. You were speaking to an audience that was, for the most part, too young to vote. So you might win the VFMA internal poll, but not the actual vote. I'm not overconfident, and I leave nothing to chance - EVERYONE I know is working as if we are 5 points down, registering voters, making calls, canvassing, making lit drops...we will turn out our voters. You have to get past me and mine, Mitt, and we say a resounding NO. Thanks. I feel better now. First Presidential Debate is this Wednesday night. Oreo has the DCW press pass, and we're looking forward to pictures and insights we don't get elsewhere. If you don't have a ticket, you might want to attend a watch party. Click here to find one near you. If you've never been to a watch party for any political event, it's something you should experience. Often the crowd calls out "liar" at appropriate moments, and cheers mightily at others. I was so pleased that I know so many people who've already signed up to hold parties. By the way, here are four questions you won't hear asked. It's 38 days out: get out and canvass! Make calls! If you're "too busy" remember that tomorrow is the last reporting day of the quarter - please make a donation to the candidate of your choice. Have a great weekend - I apologize to those of you who've contacted me asking why I've been so "quiet" - and it's less "quiet" and more actual GOTV work...I'm sorry I've been so time compressed but Elections are won one voter at a time. Get yours today. |
