| From Charlotte Observer Portions of about a dozen roads in uptown will be closed to traffic during the upcoming Democratic National Convention, under a security plan released Wednesday morning by the U.S. Secret Service and local law enforcement officials. In addition, access to the John Belk Freeway (Interstate 277) between I-77 and Independence Boulevard will be shut off starting at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 6, the last day of the DNC, according to the 19-page document. Three vehicle checkpoints also will be set up near Bank of America Stadium that Thursday where President Obama is expected to deliver his nomination speech.
