Last chance to get your name on the Democratic National Convention NASCAR

by: Oreo

Fri May 11, 2012 at 15:40:52 PM EDT

Monday is the last day for you to get your name on the “Powered by the American People” stock car. If you give $5 or more right now, we’ll add your name to our list of supporters.

This is the first convention to be funded by individuals like you and not corporations, lobbyists or PACs. Over 1,200 of our grassroots supporters from all over the country have already donated small amounts to have their name on this car.

I hope you will seriously consider being a part of our grassroots network and help make this convention a success. We are relying on you.

But remember, you only have until Monday to have your name included.

Will you join us?

Democratic Convention Watch will proudly have our name on the car... you should too!

want to know more about the car....

model, driver, team, and so on

Might be (0.00 / 0)
Looking at the Dem Con website that Oreo linked it looks like it is the Sam Hornish #12 car for the Nationwide series. And that would be a Chevy.

Ok, I'm confused (0.00 / 0)
The 12 is driven by Hornish in the Nationwide series, and that is a Pensky Dodge, but the picture is of a Chevy nose. Currently there is no one driving the #12 car in the Sprint Cup series, so maybe it is that car with driver and team to be named?

Yup, I'm confused.......

Many of the sites that I have seen don't have much info. The following link probably says the most, yet is still vague.

"I'm proud that my home state was chosen to host the 2012 Democratic National Convention and excited to share some of the Southern hospitality that we are known for in the Carolinas," Wheeler says in the letter. "I'm even more proud that the Convention will kick off with a free, family-friendly Labor Day celebration at the place I spent the majority of my career at - the Charlotte Motor Speedway."

The stock car will also be part of that Labor Day party as well as other events leading up to the convention at Time Warner Cable Arena in uptown Charlotte.

Reading that, I can't tell if the car will be raced at Charlotte on the Labor Day weekend, or just used as a Show Car. For those that don't know Humpy Wheeler, he is the former President and General Manager of Lowes Motor Speedway at Charlotte.

Is this an electric car? (0.00 / 0)
just saying...

as soon as they develop an electric car that can go 600 miles at 215 MPH (0.00 / 0)
you will probably see them on NASCAR. but that brings up an excellent point. There ought to be an E racing circuit, open to all zero emission cars! as in regular racing, i bet it would help with both development and sales!

Dems shouldn't be putting their names on stuff that trashes the planet.

[ Parent ]
good thinking.... (0.00 / 0)
lets see, the internet uses tons of electricity, most of which is either made by oil, or coal, or natural gas, the clean alternative, which is destroying our water and air thru fracking, traditional newsprint which is super anti planet with the cutting of trees, the burning of fossil fuel to turn the trees into paper, the cost and chemicals used in printing, and then more fuel used in delivering it, not to mention that a lot of it doesnt get recycled.... so how should the dems or any other environmentally aware group reach out to people? especially people who would be better served by dems than the gop, but are being brainwashed by their rightwing environment?
