Seems everyone is picking him, but even the dumbest of blondes knows he is married to a Kennedy. She clearly says she later found out the Governor was married, so very seriously doubt it was Ahnold.

The flip side of that though is I've never heard of any of the other governor's wives.  So either the wife is prominent and the hooker should have known the governor was married, or the wife isn't prominent which the hooker said she was...  Heck I live in Pennsylvania and I have no idea who Ed Rendell is married to or even absent the assumption of the poll that he is married[I generally assume though that every politician is married without specific knowledge].  She appears to be a federal judge, I suppose that might count as prominent.

Midge is a Federal Judge, and she was appointed to the bench by Bill Clinton while he was President, and Fast Eddie was "America's Mayor." At the local level, before she was a judge, she was a big deal relative to the Philadelphia Broad Street revival.

Back in the '80's, after Ed was done being DA, and after he lost his first mayoral and gubernatorial runs, the two of them would be at all sorts of social functions - so they were on the news a lot, and on the society pages in the paper.

The thing is, I'll bet that you're right -- if one didn't live in Philadelphia or the immediate area, one wouldn't have any idea who she was, nor even who he was before he became mayor in the '90's.

It made me think about how many wives of politicians most people really know about. I'm betting, again, that you're right - that most people don't know anything about them unless they do something really public. Like Renee Chenault Fattah, a local newscaster -- her husband is is a US Congressman from Philadelphia, but I bet most people knew HER (as "Renee Chenault") than knew her husband, until she amended her name after getting married a few years ago.

After you posted this comment yesterday, I was talking about it with a friend at the office. Our conversation was mostly about "blondes" and "dumb blondes" and whether people assume if a woman is blonde she's more likely to be an idiot than if she has a different hair colour.

It turned out that he knew Maria Shriver as a newscaster, but until yesterday afternoon had no idea she was a Kennedy, nor had he ever heard of Sargent Shriver.

I wonder if it's because he's young - and the Peace Corps was so much bigger a generation ago?
